Children’s Runway Shows Launch At New York Fashion Week
New York, NY, United States (AHN) – Finally, after years of the grown-ups having all the fun, at this year’s New York Fashion Week, children’s wear will also be shown. petitePARADE is the first ever runway showcase created exclusively for kids’ clothing for Fashion Week.
This Friday and Saturday, September 10th and 11th, the petitePARADE will be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City for an invitation-only audience of media, buyers, and parents who want their children to look on trend for Spring 2011.
“petitePARADE is set to fill the void in the industry for a platform that generates excitement and high-profile coverage for the children’s market, as well as related industries and businesses, during the industry’s most celebrated week,” Aleksander Stojanovic and Tiziana Indelicato, the event co-founders, said in a statement. “This event gives children’s wear designers a valuable vehicle to establish a presence and reach untapped audiences-starting with the spring 2011 season.”
“petitePARADE is finally giving a long overdue recognition to the kids’ market!” Charlene Parsons, board member of the Fashion Group International SF, added.
On Friday, September 10th at 7:00 pm, petitePARADE will kick off “Fashion’s Night Out” with a shared runway experience. For the first time ever, Cavalli, Sonya Rykiel, Simonetta and Charabia will have couture kids model each designer’s children’s looks for Spring 2011 all on the same runway.
The lineup will continue on Saturday with runway shows from Inca Girls at 1 pm as well as Monnalisa and Miss Grant at 4 pm. Love Therapy and Baby Angel by Fiorucci will launch their collections to the US market on the catwalk at 7 pm.
If parents want to bring their children, there will be an organic T-shirt workshop station by Plaworkgroup on-site. Kids can design their own petitePARADE T-shirt to be auctioned off at each runway show. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to Soaringwords, an online support group for sick children and their families.
The new children’s fashion shows’ sponsors include New Grass, Jana Water, Fisher-Price and Hiho Batik.
